When insurance flags your panel, that's not something you can sit on. Zinsco panels have been on the recalled list for decades - they're known for breakers that fail to trip under overload conditions, which is a serious fire risk. This homeowner got the call from their insurance company and reached out to us to get it handled right.
Here's what we were working with - an old Zinsco setup that had clearly seen better days. The breakers were dirty, the wiring was a mess, and the whole thing was undersized for what a home needs today. On top of that, the service entrance and mast at the roofline were worn and in rough shape. This wasn't just a swap-the-box situation. It required a full service upgrade from the ground up.
We pulled permits, trenched for the new underground work, replaced the weatherhead and service mast, and installed a new 200A Eaton panel. The finished product is clean, properly rated, and up to current code. The new panel gives the homeowner room to grow - whether that's adding circuits, upgrading appliances, or down the road adding EV charging or solar.
If your panel is old, flagged by insurance, or you're just not sure what's inside that box on your wall - that's worth a conversation. Zinsco and Federal Pacific panels are the two most commonly flagged brands we see, and a lot of homeowners don't even know they have one until the insurance letter shows up.
We handle the whole process - permits, coordination with the utility, trenching, mast work, and the panel install itself. No need to manage multiple contractors. Just one crew that does it all.
