High atrium ceilings are no joke. Getting fixtures swapped out at that height - in an active lobby that can't just shut down - takes real planning. That's exactly what we were dealing with here. Multi-story atrium, pendant LED fixtures suspended across multiple ceiling bays, and foot traffic that couldn't be fully rerouted.
Here's how we handled it. The JLG scissor lift got us up to height safely. We laid plywood sheets across the lobby floor to protect the finished surfaces and distribute the lift's weight evenly. Caution tape and cones kept the perimeter secured so staff and visitors could move through without getting too close to the work zone. Simple setup, but it matters a lot in a shared public space.
The fixture replacement itself is where our electrical fixture replacement work really shows. Each pendant LED was swapped out individually across multiple suspended ceiling bays. The goal was clean, even light distribution from one end of the atrium to the other - no hot spots, no dead zones. LED fixtures at this scale also mean far less maintenance down the road compared to older lamp types that burn out more frequently and are a pain to reach.
What a lot of building managers don't think about until it's too late is how much the lighting quality at the entry point sets the tone for the entire facility. A dim or uneven atrium signals neglect - even if everything else inside is well-maintained. Upgrading to modern LEDs at this level fixes that immediately, and the efficiency gains on the energy side are a real, ongoing benefit.
This is the kind of commercial electrical work we do well. Large-scale, technically demanding, done safely in occupied spaces without disrupting operations any more than necessary. If your facility has aging fixtures in hard-to-reach areas, that's exactly the kind of job we're set up to handle.
