Home inspections have a way of turning up electrical issues that nobody knew were there - and garages are usually ground zero. That was exactly the case here. The inspector flagged several problems that needed to be corrected before the sale could move forward. Wrong boxes in the wrong places, exposed wiring with no protection, missing GFCI protection, and wiring that wasn't properly supported or routed.

We got in and tackled every item on the list. Improper plastic boxes were swapped out for steel boxes, which are required in exposed garage applications. Wiring that was running unprotected got enclosed in conduit - you can see how clean and secure the runs look once everything is properly protected and fastened to the framing. That's not just about aesthetics. It's about making sure nothing gets snagged, damaged, or creates a hazard down the road.

GFCI protection was added where it was missing. In a garage, any outlet near a water source - like the one near the washing machine hookup - needs GFCI protection. Full stop. It's one of those code requirements that exists for a very good reason, and it's one of the most common things we find flagged on inspection reports. We also rerouted wiring to support new lighting, which means the garage is not only safer now but actually more functional too.

One thing worth pointing out - there was also a plastic old-work box on the exterior stucco wall that had no business being there in that condition. Exposed conductors, no proper support, and not rated for that application. That got sorted out as part of the overall corrections. Every single flagged item was addressed and brought up to current code standards.
