







Power cutting in and out is one of those problems that homeowners tend to chalk up to a bad breaker or a utility issue. Sometimes it is. We kept going. Once we got underground, we found it - a burned conductor that had degraded to the point of causing intermittent power loss throughout the system. The insulation was completely gone on a section of the conductor, and the wire itself was charred through.
This is what proper electrical troubleshooting looks like. It is not just resetting a breaker and calling it done. It is following the circuit from the panel all the way through until you find what is actually causing the problem. Skipping steps on a job like this does not save time - it just delays the failure and makes it worse.
A burned underground conductor is also a safety issue, not just a nuisance. Degraded wiring underground can arc, overheat surrounding materials, and create hazards that are completely invisible from the surface. Getting eyes on the full system - from the panel to the conductors - is the only way to know what you are actually dealing with. That is what a real electrical safety inspection looks like in practice.
