Here's what we were working with on this Claremont home - an old, maxed-out 100 amp panel that had clearly been pushed well past its limits for years. Cobwebs packed into the enclosure, wiring running every direction, and a panel that just wasn't built for the electrical demands of a modern home. It's a setup we see more often than you'd think, especially in older neighborhoods where the homes have been updated but the electrical service never was.

The scope of the work went beyond just swapping the panel. We pulled the old service entrance hardware, replaced the weatherhead with a clean galvanized riser, and ran fresh service conductors from the utility connection down to the new equipment. That's the part most people don't see - but it matters just as much as the panel itself. Getting the service entrance right is what allows the utility to safely deliver full 200 amp capacity to the home.

Once everything was set at the service entrance, we installed a new 200 amp meter combo enclosure and a fresh breaker panel inside. All the circuits got landed cleanly and labeled - bedroom, bathroom, garage, laundry, AC units, exterior lights. No guessing, no mystery breakers. That kind of organization makes future electrical troubleshooting and repair work significantly faster and safer for everyone.

A 100 amp service made sense decades ago. But with central AC, electric appliances, home offices, and EV charging becoming the norm - it's just not enough capacity anymore. Homeowners running into nuisance tripping, flickering lights, or planning any kind of addition or upgrade are almost always looking at a panel upgrade as the right first step. This Claremont home now has the headroom it needs to handle all of it without issue.
